Psalms Study at Our Lady of Sorrows

Our next Bible study will be the Ascension Press study, Psalms: the School of Prayer, at Our Lady of Sorrows parish starting Thursday, October 9 and running through December 18.

We led this study a year ago at Guadalupe Hall (EWTN) and found it to be one of the best Bible studies we've ever offered. There is so much good information on the psalms that we're eager to go through it again--hopefully with a larger group.

Psalms: The School of Prayer, Starter PackThe first two meetings--October 9 and 16--will be 7-8:30pm; the rest of our meetings will be 7-8pm. This is because of scheduling problems at OLS and having to squeeze 11 sessions into 9 nights. Note: there will be no class October 30 or Thanksgiving.

The optional study guide is currently available at the following vendors:

Amazon.com
Ascension Press
Barnes and Noble
CommCenter

It is completely possible to go through the study without purchasing the study guide, but if you don't like taking notes, you'll probably enjoy the weekly "Talk Notes" that give you an outline of each session.

Hope you can join us--and help us spread the word!

Suggested Reading for the Bible Timeline

Walking with God: A Journey Through the Bible

This is The Bible Timeline in book form. You may find this very helpful if you just want to listen to Jeff Cavins and not worry about taking notes at the same time.

A Father Who Keeps His Promises: God's Covenant Love in Scripture

A deeper look at the covenants we find throughout salvation history and as discussed in The Bible Timeline--but not so deep you won't be able to understand.

BibleTimeline: Additional info

PLEASE CONSIDER FOLLOWING BY EMAIL TO RECEIVE NOTICES WHEN WE UPDATE THE BLOG. SEE THE BOX AT THE TOP OF THE RIGHT-HAND COLUMN.

1.  Start time: 6:45 for discussion/questions on what you've read; 7:05pm for the DVD. Anyone who wants to stay afterwards for more questions/discussion may do so.

2.  If you miss a Tuesday night class, let Celine know if you'd like a make-up session on Saturday morning at our home in Trussville. Email EpiphanyStudies@gmail.com or call 661-3693.

3.  Housekeeping:
  • Please turn off cell phones or better yet--leave them in your car.
  • Speaking of avoiding interruptions, since we have such a large group, please be attentive during Q&A/discussion time so that everyone can hear what's being said.
  • If you partake of coffee or other items provided by EWTN, there is a donation basket for helping to defray the cost.
  • Please do not move the tables. Extra folding chairs are available near the bathrooms if you need any.
  • Feel free to bring snacks to share. Don't know if anyone would like to take charge of a sign-up sheet so we don't have feast or famine.

Bible Timeline 2.0 at EWTN

It's time to announce the dates/times for our next Bible study, another go-round of the Bible Timeline, this time using the updated "2.0" version. Whether you've done it before or you're a rank beginner, you'll be sure to get a lot out of this study which has been a life-changer for the two of us. After years of thinking we knew the Bible pretty well, it finally really makes sense as a cohesive story of salvation history.

The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation

Here's the complete information:

The Great Adventure Bible TimelineDates: April 22-Oct 7, 2014 (no class May 13)
Time: 6:45-8pm
Location: Guadalupe Hall on the grounds of EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Rd, Irondale, AL 35210

A student workbook is available for the Bible Timeline. It's completely optional, but you may find it helpful for the maps, charts, and a place to take notes. (We're told that the main difference between the original version and the 2.0 workbook is that it includes "Talk Notes" with highlights of the DVD presentations so you don't have to write so much.)

Places you can purchase it:
The most useful pieces of the study set are the bookmark and chart which you can order separately from Communication Center. We never look at our old workbook or bracelet, but still often refer to these:

God bless you,
